Last week, a clip of Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder at a photocall for their upcoming movie, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, went viral after fans noticed a sweet exchange between the two stars.
The brief moment struck a chord with viewers, with many believing that it highlights an important evolution in how young stars approach fame — particularly Gen Z’s ability to establish and maintain healthy boundaries.
Partway through the conversation, the interviewer said: “Jenna, the other day at Venice, it was so powerful when you told Winona that she didn’t have to take off her sunglasses.”
“Yeah, it’s so simple!” Jenna agreed, obviously still a bit taken aback to hear that it had gone viral. “That’s nothing to praise or applaud. You don’t have to take your glasses off; it was hot. They looked cool.”
“I love Winona Ryder and Jenna Ortega’s dynamic so much like 🥹🥹💖” one more added.
While somebody else said of Jenna’s attempt to downplay the situation: “You never know what small thing will have a big impact on someone else 🥹”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice premiered at the Venice Film Festival last week and will be released in theaters across the US and UK on Friday, Sept. 6.
